It’s a dating app so elitist that Lee Kuan Yew would have gladly endorsed it for his eugenic utopia. In a marketing tactic so boldly pompous, Ivory (yeap, as in Ivory Tower) wants high-achievers to get together via their app, because you know, “the better deserve YOU”.
Fearlessly snobbish? Check. Exclusive members-only wait list? Yezzir. Is it even legit? Apparently so, according to Tech In Asia, and all that snooty vibe isn’t unintentional — they’ve admitted to taking some notes from the Kim Kardashian school of controversial marketing. “Why settle for less?” questions the app’s founders, said to be two proud Anglo-Chinese School (Independent) alumni and a “random Angmoh”.
Ensuring that bloodlines and tendencies to treat waiters badly go untarnished, Ivory proudly aims to entice high-rollers and connect power couples through pure exclusivity. Singles will have to be screened into Ivory’s curated list of “ambitious and high-achieving” locals and expats, who’ll have access to VVIP events, private parties, invite-only clubs, yacht getaways and other affairs of the opulent nature.
To be fair, the high-roller market is exactly where the money is, and it’s smart of them to leverage on the segment of the population who’ll never settle for anything less than business-class. If you’re an elite in Singapore who’ve somehow failed to get a partner (then you shouldn’t be considered high-achieving any more, no?), head over to the Ivory website and try your luck entering the wait list.
