Escape Theme Park in Penang will soon be home to the world’s longest water slide when it’s introduced to the world in August. Set to measure 1,140m in length and 70m in height, the ride in Teluk Bahang will take guests through around four minutes’ worth of treetops and hills before splashing out into the park’s swimming pool.

Construction work is already 80 percent complete, and it’s expected to outshine the 605m New Jersey water slide that launched in 2015 and has held the Guinness World Record ever since, said chief executive officer Sim Choo Kheng.

In an effort to preserve and protect the environment, the ride is built around nature as much as possible, with installation done manually instead of using heavy machinery. Once it debuts, along with fellow new attractions Hill Rider and Tubby Racer, visitors will be able to slide through the park for lush views of greenery.

The theme park haven for adrenaline junkies sits about half an hour away from Georgetown by car, and combines a water park with an adventure zone featuring bungee jumping and zip-lining activities.
