Star Wars fans can experience desert Tatooine landscape in Tunisian Sahara

We can’t wait for the next Star Wars movie to come out (clearly there will be plenty more given it’s gone Disney), but we also can’t help but feel sad to say goodbye to the Skywalker saga with The Rise of Skywalker.

Good thing the striking desert landscapes of Tatooine aren’t actually a galaxy far, far way.

Indulge your inner Star Wars super fan with a journey to Tunisia to venture through jaw-dropping Sahara scenery and check out filming locations in Southeast Tunisia.

Off the silver screen, Tatooine isn’t a far-flung planet, but an abandoned Berber town in Tunisia, just two hours away from Anantara Tozeur Resort. The luxury hotel chain just opened up its Tozeur Resort in December 2019 and has actually launched a Star-Wars-centric package to introduce you to Anakin and Luke’s world.

Visit Ong Jemel “The Neck of the Camel” (aka Mos Espa in The Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones) and a nearby film set, as well as Mides Canyon. And we won’t judge — get your pictures taken with a cape and lightsaber at an iconic, recognizable backdrop.

The two-day Tatooine Journey Package includes the excursions with dune bashing by 4×4, a two-night stay in deluxe Sahara View Room, and airport transfers from Tozeur Nefta International Airport for USD1,250 for two people sharing a double or twin room. Worth it? Depends on how into Star Wars y’all are and if this kind of landscape speaks to you.
