Thais, tourists, and daytrippers are flocking to Loei province near the Laos border to drink in the sight of millions of cherry blossoms in full flower.
Well known to flower fans, Phu Lom Lo Mountain, or Thai Sakura Park, is an annual destination for some, who travel from around the country to see the stunning cherry blossom trees. Leaf peepers spent THB1 million at local businesses this past weekend, a boon for the sparsely-populated, remote province, reported Thai News Bureau.
Many of them also wore pink in order to match the flowers in photos.
Half of that sum was spent on transportation services, while the rest was from accommodation bookings, food, and goods purchased at local, family-run shops.
