The Mandarin Oriental has announced that it plans to open an ultra-luxe beachfront property on Thailand’s Phuket. But, there’s no need to book your tickets yet — it’s not slated to open until 2022.
The hotel group announced the project just a few days ago, so it has not revealed a whole lot of details just yet. But they did announce that the location would be on one of the few undeveloped bits left of Phuket’s west coast, also known as Millionaire’s Mile.
The Mandarin group has 31 hotels and seven condo buildings in 21 countries around the world and are known for their 5-star accoutrements with Asian touches.
The new property will sit on 24 acres of Laem Singh Bay, but will have just 105 rooms — of those, 37 will be pool villas.
They are promising the expected “panoramic views of the Andaman Sea and the sunset” along a white sand beach great for leisurely swims and snorkels.
And, for on-site dining (millionaire milers gotta eat their millionaire meals, right?) — there will be a fine dining outlet, a restaurant that we’re guessing will be Thai, a beach club, and a bar that’s designed to optimize sunset watching as another fabulous day of being wealthy passes you by.
No word yet on the rates in Phuket, but if you want to get a rough estimate: The riverside Bangkok property can be rented by the night starting at THB16,850 (US$510), while suites can run as high as THB160,000 (US$4,875) per night.
