This Indonesian luxury eco-lodge is one of world’s few to run entirely on biofuel (PHOTOS)

Nihi Sumba is a one-of a kind destination that melds save-the-earth vibes with complete luxury. Running completely on biofuel and located on the remote Indonesian island of Sumba,  it’s totally committed to a sustainability ethos.

They serve produce from their organic garden and protect the island’s turtle population with their own hatchery. And they don’t just love the local turtles. This resort preserves the unique local culture through their Sumba Foundation, employing 90 percent Sumbanese natives and running programs to educate and empower those to whom the island is most important.

Despite the green vibes — or perhaps because of them — the resort is a place to completely relax in five-star comfort. Voted the number one hotel in the world by Travel + Leisure magazine in both 2016 and 2017, guests rave about everything from the beds, to the yoga, to the cuisine.

Book one of their 33 villas and enjoy what visitors call a “nearly empty” beach.
