Situated on the south base of Mount Niseko Annupuri, Niseko Village in Hokkaido is where the skiers flock to when they’re not flying down the slopes at Aspen in Colorado or St. Moritz in Switzerland.

Come December 1, the popular Japanese ski destination an hour-and-a-half flight from Tokyo will be home to a new all-suite hotel when Hinode Hills Niseko Village joins existing accommodations (and fellow YTL Hotels brands) The Green Leaf Niseko Village, Hilton Niseko Village, and Kasara Niseko Village Townhouse.

Named as a tribute to the rising sun, the 79-key ski-in/ski-out structure is designed with a wabi-sabi (philosophy of perfect imperfection) aesthetic in a warm, modern style. Offering views of Mount Yotei, plus ski services and an in-house onsen, the hotel is located adjacent to the Upper Village Gondola to allow guests easy access around the mountain for stopovers at the neareby dining and shopping areas.

After you’re all skied out, the village offers plenty of dining concepts including dessert cafes, Asian tapas, fresh Hokkaido seafood, and cocktail bars for a fuel-up session. You can also visit the boutiques of designer brands and specialty stores in the area, or pop in to the Hokkaido Art Gallery for a look at the craftsmanship of local artists. To unwind, head to the onsen spots to relax in thermal waters or book a slot at one of the spas to massage away those muscle aches before your next powder day on the slopes.

Even if you’re visiting in summer, the greenery of Niseko Village offers plenty to do, including tree trekking, horseback riding, mountain biking, golfing, and lifting off on a hot air balloon journey.

The luxury development opens for reservations in April, with starting rates at JP¥40,000 (US$359) for a studio unit, JP¥60,000 (US$539) for a two-bedroom unit, and JP¥80,000 (US$718) for a three-bedroom suite.
