Coconuts Media is hiring a Managing Editor: Food, Lifestyle, and Travel (FLT) to be based in our Singapore or Bangkok office.

This is a senior position in our Editorial department that will report to our Editor in Chief.

Objective:

Grow the audience, reputation, and quality of Coconuts Food, Lifestyle, and Travel coverage across the region.

Responsibilities will include:

– Oversee the publication of a stream of entertaining, useful, and stylish FLT stories on the Coconuts.co website.

– Manage the Food & Drink and Lifestyle categories of eight Coconuts city sections covering Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong,  Manila, Jakarta, KL, Yangon, and Bali.

– Manage the new standalone Coco Travel section.

– Lead a small in-house FLT editorial team and commission stories from freelancers.

– Regularly write top quality FLT stories yourself.

– Act as lead Coconuts editorial representative to F&B, lifestyle, and travel industries –  networking, attending events, speaking at conferences, etc.

– Social media management to support Coconuts FLT content.

– Work closely with Coconuts Editor in Chief to craft and implement overall editorial strategies and achieve objectives.

The ideal candidate will have: 

– 5-10 years of experience in a senior editorial role at a relevant online or print publication.

– Passion for food, lifestyle and travel and a finger on the pulse of what’s hot (and what’s not) in Southeast Asia and Hong Kong.

– A contrarian spirit and the desire to do things differently.

– A strong visual aesthetic and sense of style.

– Extensive social media savvy and digital publishing expertise.

– Impeccable writing and editing skills.

– A university degree.
