WATCH: The story behind one of Singapore’s few remaining kacang puteh sellers

Kacang puteh sellers are a rarity nowadays — gone are the times when you’d see them scattered around the streets of Singapore, touting tidbits wrapped in paper. Thanks to the abundance of pre-packaged nuts at every convenience store, these old school carts are no longer a common sight.

But if you love your fresh kacang puteh and you happen to live, work or go to school in the vicinity of Peace Centre, there’s hope yet. Meet one of the few remaining — if not the last — kacang puteh sellers in Singapore, Amirthaalangaram Moorthy. He runs the stall outside the mall with his wife six days a week, from morning till evening, and they both make fresh snacks every Sunday.

Watch the short clip about his work below, lovingly produced and written by NTU Wee Kim Wee School of Communication and Information students Sherry Wong and Shaun Tan.
