Passengers’ typical Tuesday night train ride was ruined by a man who could not stop slinging insults at them.

A man who forced his way onto the train with a bicycle and proceeded to scream at passengers in three languages was reported to the police by train operator SMRT. The incident happened at around 7:10pm from Woodlands to Jurong East station.

“Some of you may have come across a video that is circulating online about a commuter with a bicycle on board a train. We have since identified the commuter and made a police report,” SMRT said in a statement yesterday.

The authorities said the staff failed to stop the “uncooperative” man from entering with a non-foldable bicycle, which is not allowed on its trains. Only foldable bicycles and personal mobility devices are allowed on public transport.

In the 30-second clip posted yesterday, the camera captured the man from his back with his bicycle hanging from the handlebars while he is cursing at passengers in Malay, English and Hokkien dialect. The passengers sit helplessly as they try to keep a straight face.

“Your dad’s gay boyfriend is getting penetrated by a dog,” the man shouted, translated from Malay.

“Don’t laugh lah, your balls are shivering. Ok? If I can take off your pants and show the world how big you are, they’ll laugh at you,” the man said in response to a man who can be heard chuckling in the background.

Though the man appears mentally unwell, some users online said it was embarrassing and his hanging bike was a safety threat.

“[He] is creating nuisance and disgrace to himself and causing [hazard] by hanging his bicycle on the handle bar. Where is the authority. Embarrassment to the max,” Sean Tan said.

“This uncle is causing public nuisance not only by his shouting and cursing but also hanging his bicycle on the hand rail which is a potential hazard,” Ridzuan Osman said.
