Yan Kay Kay: I’m used to her attacking me

When Xiaxue (or Wendy, as she’s known to her friends) first put up her scathing ‘exposé’ of rival blogger network Gushcloud, Yan Kay Kay, one of the company’s ‘influencers’, only responded through brief posts on her Instagram page, like this one:

The night before Christmas, she wrote a longer post on her blog, detailing even the breakdown of her friendship with the vitriolic blogger, with whom she shared a heated kiss in the latter’s YouTube show.

Yan addressed curiosity about their friendship, which was rumoured to have broken down in 2012.

She said she was used to being attacked by Xiaxue, following a stream of events that happened around the time:

And it seems that after the Gushcloud incident, the 31-year-old is, understandably, unable to put up with it any longer, and has decided to take a stand against her former friend famously regarded as a cyber bully.

In the post, Yan Kay Kay mainly addressed Xiaxue’s allegations against Gushcloud, which the company has since refuted, but she also defended the popularity of her YouTube channel, swearing she’d never bought likes or subscriptions, as was suggested in the ‘exposé’.

In addition to her YouTube statistics, Yan posted screenshots from Google Analytics related to her blog, to prove Xiaxue’s claim about her and Gushcloud inflating her figures to get clients, wrong.

After a lengthy defense, Yan also explained why she’d never fought back each time Xiaxue ‘attacked’ her.

“I was afraid, No, terrified,” she wrote. “I felt that even when we used to be so close and she was unprovoked, she could attack me like that, just how far would she go if I fought back? I was scared for myself, my reputation, my work, my loved ones, things she has shown constantly to have no qualms attacking in her rage.”

Yan Kay Kay then revealed in a postscript that the money she’s received from treating Xiaxue’s fake company SG Private Trainers as a client, will be donated to Sanctuary House, a local charity for helpless young mothers.
