A woman who was badly burned trying to pull her boyfriend from a burning car on Chinese New Year has been moved out of intensive care, the hospital treating her told Coconuts today.
Raybe Oh, who was burned over most of her body as she attempted to save her boyfriend after he crashed into a Tanjong Pagar shophouse, was upgraded to serious condition at the Singapore General Hospital, 10 days after her boyfriend and his four passengers all died in the incident.
“The patient is currently in stable condition in the High Dependency ward. We are unable to comment on her discharge date,” the hospital said in a written message.
The white car was speeding down a road known for street racing at nearly 6am. Footage shows it fishtail and spin out of control on its way into smashing into a shophouse. It bursts into flames about 20 seconds later, after which 26-year-old Oh is seen sprinting into the flaming wreckage.
The driver was identified as Jonathan Long, 29, and the passengers were Eugene Yap, 29; Elvin Tan Yong Hao, 28; Wilson Teo Qi Xiang, 26; and Gary Wong Hong Chieh, 29.
Oh, who was born in Malaysia, suffered burns to 80% of her body.
