A foreign woman who has gained notoriety in Singapore for filming herself arguing with a police officer in a hospital and posting the video online has been charged with two more offenses.
The woman, a Chinese national named Han Feizi, is accused of making a false declaration that she would work for a company called KDL Elements in her work permit application. Instead, she allegedly worked illegally as a freelance hostess at various places from Aug. 1 to Oct. 11.
The 29-year-old was charged today under the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act. She has been in remand since Oct. 13, when she was first charged with six offenses, including public nuisance, assault, abusive language and harassment.
The incident that sparked her arrest happened at Singapore General Hospital (SGH), where she had gone to seek treatment for a foot injury. She claimed that she had been hit by a car and waited for three hours without seeing a doctor. While she was allegedly being abusive to hospital staff, she also said that she was denied treatment because she was not a Singapore citizen.
The hospital denied her allegations.
When the police arrived, she allegedly argued with them and recorded a video of a female police officer, which she later uploaded on Chinese social media platform Douyin.
Han today appeared in court via video link from her place of remand. Looking calm while wearing large black glasses, she told the court through a Mandarin interpreter that she wanted to plead guilty to all her charges.
She then requested to make an overseas call to her hometown, as she sought to make arrangements to settle her credit card debts and pay her mortgage lest she face serious consequences.
The court told Han was told that she could only make local calls, but she could ask someone to help her with the payments. She then said that she had no friends or family in Singapore.
Han is expected to plead guilty on Wednesday.
