The National Environment Agency (NEA) has been investigating complaints of “foul odour” in the Punggol estate.
The complaints, some of which came through the MediaCorp hotline, were from residents who detected a smell that was described as “burning” and “chemical”.
According to TODAY, one resident felt the odour so strongly that it woke them up.
Despite having detected some unpleasant odour in the air on two nights when they visited Punggol and Sengkang, NEA reveals they’ve found “no unusual level of toxic chemicals”. Their air monitoring systems also “did not show any unusual pollutant levels in the ambient air”.
