WHAT: FAST clubhouse wants foreign workers to go to a place where they won’t disturb people

Announcing the launch of a clubhouse specially for foreign domestic workers in Singapore was Seah Seng Choon, president of the Foreign Domestic Worker Association for Social Support and Training (FAST).

Of the first-of-its-kind clubhouse, which will charge a membership fee of $4 a year for hosting facilities such as a computer lab and library, plus weekly fitness classes and local attraction tours, Mr. Seah said, “You notice currently the foreign domestic workers congregate in various places of interest. Like Lucky Plaza, Gardens by the Bay, the Botanic Gardens, and sometimes even in the residential areas. We want them to go to a place where they can be among themselves, where they will not be disturbing the owners of the building or residents of the area.”

So basically, the 3,000 sq. ft. centre at 10 Raeburn Park that’s opening in April is a place for foreigners to have fun without messing ours up?

Great initiative, poor choice of words — someone needs a lesson in statement writing.
