Every organiser wants their big event to end with a bang.
But in the case of the Singapore International Jazz Festival, which saw the likes of India Arie, Jamie Cullum and Roy Hargrove gracing the stage at Marina Bay Sands in the past four days, it was a bang that came too abruptly.
A #singjazz search on Facebook reveals several posts uploaded at about midnight on March 2, all about the same thing: closing act Earth, Wind & Fire Experience had just been cut off and that too, while they were performing one of their hits, “September” (watch video below).

“So rude! They cut Earth Wind and Fire off during ‘September’ cuz its midnight! They killed the speakers!” read one post.
At about the same time, local actor Chua En Lai tweeted:
Someone just pulled the plug on Earth Wind & Fire Experience mid-song! @singaporejazz #singjazz2014
— Chua Enlai (蔡恩来) (@chuaenlai) March 2, 2014
#singjazz2014 On behalf of Singapore, I want to apologise to #earthwindandfireexperience for the behaviour of @singaporejazz!

Another Twitter user even described the Singapore International Jazz Festival as “a cliffhanger worse than Game of Thrones“.
Moments later, more angry ticketholders made their feelings known, via the event’s official Facebook page:
Coconuts Singapore has sent an e-mail to the event organiser requesting for comment.
