Waterfront at Potong Pasir gets stunning makeover

Residents of Potong Pasir will now be the envy of Singaporeans from other estates.

The 400m stretch of waterway along the Kallang River is not just a giant drain anymore, but a new and improved waterfront that features rain gardens and vegetated swales, viewing decks with timber seats, and an open plaza that can accommodate 750 people for community events and outdoor lessons, The Straits Times reports.

Under national water agency PUB’s Active, Beautiful, Clean Waters (ABC Waters) programme that aims to spruce up Singapore’s many water bodies, the Potong Pasir waterfront has been in the making for more than a year.

Officially opened on Sunday morning by Member of Parliament for Potong Pasir Sitoh Yih Pin, this $7-million project is the 28th under the programme to be completed. Over 100 potential locations have been identified for implementation by 2030.
