WATCH: Zooming car loses control at a bend, knocks down lamp post

An innocent lamp post along Guillemard Road got knocked down last Saturday afternoon after a driver lost control of his car going a wee bit too fast while navigating a slight bend.

Dashcam footage of the accident emerged on the SG Road Vigilante Facebook group yesterday, showing how the dramatic incident unfolded. At the 0:22 mark, a white car is spotted suddenly zooming along the first lane with a black car following close behind, as if in a chase.

Alas, the driver of the black car failed the bend and crashed hard into a street lamp, toppling the pole and sending debris into the air. A motorcyclist on the opposing side of the road was fortunate enough to be ways away from the crash and managed to avoid colliding with the fallen lamp post.

The car itself got its front totaled, and smoke was seen coming out of its engine.




According to the police, no injuries were reported in the accident. While police investigations are ongoing, here’s a thoroughly improved version of the clip:
