‘Tis the season to be frightened! To get you into the mood for Halloween, here’s a local short film that’s made rounds around the horror film festival circuit: Bad Throttle.
Clearly inspired by torture-porn flicks, this short by filmmaker JD Chua feeds into your fears of the cold, quiet uncles who may be hiding dreadful secrets. According to Taoist belief, there are eighteen floors of hell, with each level containing different tortures for different sinners. The shady uncle in this film goes for level 13 (drowning in a pool of blood) as he enacts his own twisted justice upon a young insolent motorbiker. Watch Bad Throttle below, and it’s probably for the best that you don’t piss off any more silent uncles.
