WATCH: The story behind Chip Guan Heng, the ice cream suppliers of ice cream uncles

We love getting ice cream sandwiches from ice cream uncles and aunties selling ‘em from their motorbike sidecars, but where do they get their supplies from? From Chip Guan Heng apparently, one of Singapore’s oldest ice cream distributors established since 1970.

As documentarians Our Grandfather Story found out, the company is still a family business, now with the son and grandson of Chip Guan Heng’s founder running the show. Ice cream hawkers both old and new rely on the distributor for almost everything they need, including dry ice, waffle biscuits, bread and of course, blocks of various flavored ice cream.
