This one’s an oldie (from Qingming Festival — or Tomb Sweeping Day) but a goodie. Seeing as how yesterday was the first day of the Hungry Ghost Festival, Our Grandfather Story resurfaced its video showcasing a glimpse into a shop that supplies hell money and paper goods for ancestral offerings.
It is the belief of Buddhists and Taoists that relatives ought to burn these paper offerings — which include everything from cars and houses to jewellery and planes — to take care of their deceased family members’ material needs in the afterlife.
And things can get quite lavish. Who says you can’t get turnt in the afterlife?
Check out the shop’s well-updated range of luxury cars, electronic cigarettes, branded goods, modern gadgets like the Macbook Pro and Google Glass, and even petrol stations that you can gift your ancestors below.
