WATCH: Save Our Street Dogs animal shelter holds emotional farewell for old Husky

A year ago, a Husky by the name of Snoopy came to the possession of the Save Our Street Dogs (SOSD) organisation after its former owners had no choice but leave it behind in Singapore after being sent overseas.

Nearly blind and clearly pained by old age, the 10-year-old canine became a darling at the dog shelter since its arrival. SOSD volunteers and visitors tried their darnedest to find him a new home, but weren’t able to do so — especially since Snoopy wasn’t responding well to new people.

Nonetheless, he remained a beloved fixture at the shelter. So it was tragic that the husky was diagnosed with an intestinal infection, an ailment bad enough to cause its embattled heart to fail. In an emotional farewell last Saturday, dozens of volunteers flocked to the shelter to bid goodbye to Snoopy, providing a proper sendoff to the Husky. ‘Twas sad too, especially since Snoopy finally found someone who officially adopted him in its final moments: SOSD volunteer Andrew Tan. Heart-wrenching stuff, but at least the old dog departed while surrounded by the people who loved it.
