Welp, the folks behind the Lee family K-drama parody and the fake public service announcement on fake news have done it again. Self-professed creative agency Lup Sup has shot their sharp satirical arrows into the touchy topic of Singapore Armed Forces generals and their inclination to be Chief Executive Officers of public transport operator SMRT.

The context is this: In Singapore, career officers in the Singapore Armed Forces tend to be promoted to the highest offices in the land. Though it is not a political office per se, SMRT Corporation is one of the largest public transport companies in the country, and former SAF general are often tasked to run it. The public considers this an odd choice — why would someone who has little work experience with trains, buses and transport systems be qualified to run a public transport system already beleaguered by frequent breakdowns?

The issue is being taken to hilarious lengths in this Lup Sup video, which imagines a conversion course that generals need to undergo to become the chief executive of SMRT. As you can see, it’s very rigorous.
