WATCH: A righteous parody of annoyingly cheery social media influencer food videos

DAMN IT. Just when we were toying with the same idea to craft a satirical series in the fashion of the annoyingly cheery videos about local food finds, Facebook user Liew Yuwei went ahead and did it himself.

You know what we’re talking about. Short Facebook videos depicting decent-looking girls waving and smiling while introducing some hip eatery. Inoffensive, upbeat and dripping with textbook elements of virality, it’s social media fodder among basic folks in Singapore.

Liew, however, has stepped up to the plate to deconstruct the cloyingly sweet template of such videos after getting “inspired by our shared hatred for this style”. Off he went to hyped-up restaurant Springleaf Prata Place to create his own ‘sponsored post’ featuring a chiobu — himself.

Meanwhile, if you think BuzzFeed’s The Try Guys are pure cancer, here’s a parody that should provide the cure.
