Guys, it really happened. People actually attended the Naruto Run event at VivoCity last Saturday. Post-event pictures and footage have shown about 17 people who dropped by to run to and from the shopping mall and Sentosa like ninjas from the popular anime/manga series — with their backs bent down, both arms stretched straight out behind, and sprinting forward like a rocket.

Here’s an actual Wiki How article that teaches you some tips and tricks.

For the large population of you who aren’t otakus/weebs, here’s a bit of context. Naruto is a massively popular anime/manga series with a global fanbase. The story follows the titular young ninja who dreams of becoming the best, and his adventures towards achieving his goal in becoming Hokage (the leader of his village).

The way that him and his fellow ninjas run kinda makes sense, as their stance reduces air-resistance… or something like that. It may look cool in the cartoons, but in real life, it looks dumb as shit. But that didn’t stop weeaboos fans from doing it though.

Over the world, Naruto fans have been organizing runs that see grown-ass adults darting around like ninjas. Someone decided to hold one here too, inviting where folks everywhere to awkwardly run to and from VivoCity and Sentosa.

What started off as an inside joke between friends soon acquired massive nationwide attraction (both ironic and sincere), with over 3,600 people indicating their interest. You best believe that we were all in too — we even included it in our list of must-attend happenings over the weekend.

So Saturday came and went, and although hundreds confirmed their attendance, only a handful of true ninjas came by. Nonetheless, the show must go on — and it did. Watch what went down, courtesy of Jaze Phua, who chronicled the historic event.
