Don’t do drugs kids, or Jackie Chan will come down hard to whoop your ass — the Hong Kong action movie star (and rumored Singaporean Permanent Resident) is officially Singapore’s first celebrity anti-drug ambassador.
Announced today by Second Minister for Home Affairs and Second Minister for Foreign Affairs Masagos Zulkifli at the launch of anti-drug mobile game app Aversion at Nanyang Polytechnic, the actor was in town to voiced his strong support for the cause.
Channel NewsAsia reports that Chan feels especially invested in the cause against drugs, referring to his own son Jaycee Chan who recently served six months imprisoned in China for drug offences. The 61-year-old maintains that though he was shocked and ashamed when he first found out about his son’s involvement with drugs, his relationship with Jaycee remains unchanged, and the father has even encouraged the younger Chan to be an anti-drug ambassador as well.
“I hope that he can inspire our youths to always say no to drugs,” said Masagos in his speech. “I also hope his presence inspires and reminds all of is that we each have the power to speak up and say no to drugs.”
That’s right kids, if one of the most badass men in the world who base jumped onto a hot air balloon, slid 21 storeys down a skyscraper and faced off with Bruce Lee himself tells you to cut that drug shit out, you best be listening son.
