In an amusing sight captured near the Singapore River at Clarke Quay, a curious otter family emerged from the depths to entertain themselves with a man who’d been sleeping by the side of the river’s steps.
Typically apprehensive of humans, these otters were bold enough to approach the uncle, who looked like he might have dozed off. The motionless man became the subject of the critters’ curiosity as they sniffed at him and his belongings while passers-by looked on in delight. It’s unclear when this footage was taken, but it was uploaded on the Singapore Ink Facebook page this morning.
Of course, if this had been a horror flick, the otters would suddenly grow a taste for human flesh and start chomping down on the poor uncle until only his bones were left behind.
It is believed that the otters in the video may be the family that made the Singapore River their home since moving out of the Marina Reservoir following a territorial fight with the Bishan otter family.
