Let’s be honest, rarely would you give a second glance to singing buskers armed with acoustic guitars at MRT stations. This busker, however, might have you stop in your tracks and clap along to his jaunty, spoken-word tunes.

Mad, mad respect to this 60-year-old uncle for daring to weave political commentary into his folksy ditties, and actually singing it out loud in public. Not only are his songs admittedly pretty catchy, but they’re actually highly relatable to the Singaporean everyman. Very, very woke.

Watch this uncle tackle issues such as public housing, costly vehicle prices, MRT breakdowns, healthcare costs and increasing retirement ages in this clip, seemingly filmed in the vicinity of Toa Payoh HDB hub.

While some warned that such provocative content (honestly, we think he has the right to sing such truths) could land the busker in trouble, others made the assertion that he is well within the boundaries. But then again, busking licences are given out by the National Arts Council — and we all know its track record with provocative works of art (*cough* The Art of Charlie Chan Hock Chye *cough*)
