In the wake of the NUS sexual misconduct case, where undergraduate Monica Baey surfaced what many thought to be insufficient punishment for the perpetrator who filmed her in the campus shower, a lot has come to light. One company broke ties with NUS over the university’s response to the scandal, Singapore’s Minister for Education called the school’s actions “manifestly inadequate,” police explained that the voyeur was given a 12-month conditional warning because he was “remorseful” with a “high likelihood of rehabilitation,” and NUS’ president issued an apology.

Now that you’re all caught up, here’s a slightly more light-hearted (but still serious) take on what has so far been discussed with gravity, produced by none other than local “blogfather” Mr Brown.

Getting into character as Kim Huat, who’s self-proclaimed to be “Singapore Number One Justice Fan,” he offers up his opinions on the Peeping Tom case, criticizing aspects like the university’s second strike policy and the offender being made to pen an apology letter. In his humorous Singlish style, of course. Complete with curse words that we haven’t heard in a while, like “chao turtle” (which translates to, er, smelly turtle in Hokkien.)

“Why? Wanna test your phone’s waterproof power ah?” he questions the motives behind the dude’s actions. “Drunk then don’t drink! Drunk then go home and sleep! You drink what alcohol that makes you want to video a woman bathing? Is it Absolut Hamsap (pervert in Cantonese) Vodka?”

“You are NUS. National University of Singapore,” he adds, chiding the school. “Not NUBLSO: National University of Being Lenient to Sexual Offenders.”
