In another video that instills the adage “If you see a trailer, get the fuck out of its way”, a dashcam caught footage of a horrible accident near the West Coast Highway, in which a motorcyclist was crushed in between two heavy vehicles.
Transpiring along Jalan Buroh, the incident involved a container trailer and a truck transporting chemicals that were filtering onto the West Coast Highway — but both were unaware that a lone motorcyclist had squeezed in between them. Considering that he was out of the blindspots of both drivers and that it was a narrow two-lane road, tragedy was bound to happen, and the container truck ran over both the motorcycle and its rider.
The aftermath was grim; the motorcyclist laid motionless on the road as other motorists came to a stop near the scene of death.
The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) dispatched an ambulance to the scene, where paramedics declared the 42-year-old man dead on the scene. Investigations are ongoing, the police said.
As regular commuters along the West Coast Highway would know, that road is notoriously fraught with heavy vehicles — lots of big trucks and trailers utilise the road near Singapore’s southern shipping ports. Earlier this month, a trailer allegedly caused a vicious crash with a car on the expressway. In late October, two electric bicycle riders were killed in an accident with a truck along the highway.
