K-drama erupted in local K-pop fandom when a group of young kids proclaimed that they were, er, Singapore’s first ever K-pop girl group.

Thirteen local teens who call themselves Beaunite made their debut video recently, announcing that they’ll be composing their own music and choreography alongside an upcoming reality show entitled Beaunite TV.

And boy, is their introduction video awkward as hell.

On any other fine day, we’d gladly roast the fuck out of cringe-inducing adults, but come on y’all, these are just kids. Kids with a common passion who are actually doing something about it — they’re actively chasing their dreams (improbably as it may or may not be) and committed to a creative outlet.

But geez, some people took the K-pop scene way too seriously, condemning the kids to oblivion on the internet. Brickbats include harsh criticism about their looks, their age, their lack of grasp on the Korean language, and their apparent wreckage on the reputation of “real” Singaporean K-pop fans. They’re just kids having their own bit of fun, dammit, what kind of polish were you expecting?
