If you thought that high-rise kitty rescue was scary enough, wait till you see these men carry out some death-defying operations at the Mount Faber Cable Car Line.
From 6am this morning, officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force’s elite Disaster Assistance and Rescue Team (DART) executed an emergency exercise Mount Faber, where the task was to rescue a passenger from from a stranded cable car.
Not an easy job, obviously, especially since this is the height that they’re dealing with:
Watch how they carried out the exercise below:
Trivia time: DART rescuers have to be familiar with conducting rescues at the cable car system to prevent tragedies such as the Singapore Cable Car disaster from happening again. In the evening of Jan 29, 1983, an oil rig passed under the aerial ropeway and snagged on a cable that stretched over the waterway between Jardine Steps Station and Sentosa Station. Two cabins plunged into the sea, killing seven people, while thirteen others remained trapped in four other cabins. They were later rescued by helicopters.
The rescue operation was directed by none other than current Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong, who was Colonel, Chief of Staff in the army back then.
