WATCH: How a group of Pokémon Go players are voluntarily cleaning up the mess in Hougang

Despite all the negative press about the rabid Pokémon Go players of Hougang Avenue 10 (seriously though, they should chill the eff out), not all of them are reckless, irresponsible harbingers of the Poképocalypse.

Take 19-year-old Jantzen Lee, the founder of popular Facebook group Pokemon GO SG Hougang-ers. A Ngee Ann Polytechnic student by day and Pokémon Go hotspot camper by night, his passion for catching ’em all has since evolved into something more righteous — to safeguard the sanity of Hougang’s residents. Some truly nasty behaviour by Pokémon Go players (like litter, irresponsible parking and noisy hullabaloos in the wee hours of the morning) have plagued the vicinity of Block 401 ever since the launch of the game, and it’s Lee to the rescue.

Forming a core group of likeminded Pokémon Go players, the antithesis of Team Rocket launched a ‘Hougangers Cleanliness Movement’, where they voluntarily cleared up the mess left behind by their peers till early morning. Watch a profile of the movement below, courtesy of a short clip done up by Sherry Wong.
