Yesterday, Amazon launched its Amazon Prime Now service in Singapore, and we’ve all been going cray-cray over it. Having teased us on a merry-go-round over the past few days, its reveal was certainly worth all the pent-up anticipation for us consumers. Items delivered to your doorstep in two hours? That’s too good to be true!
And it probably is, for now. Since the service launched on Wednesday night, the e-commerce giant has been overwhelmed — so much so that it can’t even deliver any orders right now. We imagine everyone’s getting on board to test out the promise of delivery within two hours, and presumably, Amazon’s logistics and manpower just aren’t there to cope with the demand yet. The fact that Amazon opened its Prime Now quick delivery service to folks without a Prime membership didn’t help things either.
“Singapore loves Prime Now, and we are delivering thousands of orders each day. Due to great customer response, delivery windows are currently sold out,” said an Amazon spokesperson to Coconuts Singapore. “We are rapidly opening up new windows to ensure we can continue delighting customers in Singapore.”
Totally understandable, of course — it’s a new service, and there are bound to be teething problems that’ll probably last for a couple of months. Nonetheless, folks are pretty miffed that Amazon’s not living up to its promises.
Patience, folks. While waiting for Prime Now services to be up and running again, here’s a video explaining what goes on behind the scenes:
