A dash cam clip making its rounds on social media right now shows a pretty shocking incident in which a truck driver transporting an excavator makes the mistake of misjudging the vehicular height limit while entering the underground Kallang-Paya Lebar Expressway tunnel.
In fact, you can see the truck driver realizing the huge mistake he made at the last minute, but it was too late — the excavator’s arm was too tall for the black-and-yellow height barrier. Though it nearly flipped over, the excavator (fortunately) fell off the truck’s platform instead of hitting the vehicle traveling at the rear.
The safety distance works, people, and you best be doing the same when driving or riding behind heavy vehicles.
