WATCH: An exasperated cabbie’s rant about getting karmic retribution from a taxi fare cheat

Cheating cabbies out of their fare is a serious crime, and it’s far more so when the trip costs nearly $200.

For this taxi driver, it indeed was a disheartening experience to have his passenger flee after accumulating such a high fare. However, we can’t help but chuckle (guiltily) over how the dude reacted to getting ditched. Dude just sounded utterly defeated as he narrated the whole incident on camera after waiting half an hour for his passenger to return with the money.

According to him, a couple entered his taxi and told him to drive around while they got intimate in the backseat — it all amounted to a journey that lasted from afternoon till night. But it was after the cab stopped at Chua Chu Kang that the couple presumably fled, following promises that they’d return with the $178.54 they owed.

The dark humor stems from the cabbie’s diminishing patience (and sanity) as he complained about how he had three kids and a wife to feed at home. But really, it’s his final remark about karmic retribution that ensured the clip was comedy gold:

“I regret lah. I think this one ah, karma. Because last time ah, I also got zhao (run away from) cab before. Zhao cab, zhao cab, now people zhao cab me back.”
