No disrespect to our boys in blue, but it looks like someone’s gonna get in trouble with their superiors. An officer from the Singapore Police Force’s rapid deployment troops unit was seen looking less than formidable at a traffic junction along Orchard Boulevard, no less.

It’s even more regrettable that the whole thing was captured on dash cam and uploaded on the internet, where it’ll live forever.

But some context first. Rapid deployment troops are the police’s Special Operations Command officers geared up like total badasses and equipped with skills to respond to situations fast on their big black motorcycles. Tasked to be the first armed responders to the scene to handle threats such as counter-terror scenarios and hostage situations, they’re trained in tactical riding to weave through traffic gridlocks and are adept at lane splitting, curb mounting, and junction swarming as well.

So you have to admit it’s a little amusing to see two of these gallant, fearsome officers fumbling and stumbling after the rider failed to maintain his balance when stopping at a traffic light yesterday afternoon. Fortunately, they managed to get the motorbike back up (those things are super heavy) in time for the lights to turn green. Unfortunately, the minor blunder was caught on camera.

Of course, there’s nothing shameful about dropping bikes — these things do happen to the best of motorcyclists, experienced or not. Even elite special forces are humans, after all.
