Forget about the Fortnite dance challenge. This right here is a middle-aged auntie busting a move in what seems to be a bonus performance when one orders roasted chicken at a House Of Seafood outlet at The Punggol Settlement.

From the get-go, the clip — uploaded to Facebook last Thursday — launches into an absurdist trip. The auntie is seen prancing wildly to the rhythm of a thumping techno beat blaring from the restaurant’s speakers. She pauses and politely explains the dish before pouring flammable spirit onto a whole chicken, which has been stuck on a metal pole in the middle of the table. The chicken gets flambéed for a moment before the flames fizzle out. In celebration of the briefly-lit chicken, the auntie kicks off the second phase of the dance, heralded by the crowing of chickens in the techno tune, which drops into an odd remix of chicken sounds weaved into electronic beats.

And suddenly, the surreal arthouse performance ended as quickly as it began, with the auntie expressing the hope that the patrons are satisfied. How could they not be, after all?

Like us, folks didn’t know what to make of it.
