Monday blues? More like Monday reds (because angry — sorry, we’re trying our best here) for this poor StarHub salesman who was rudely told to “fuck off” for simply doing his job.

The door-to-door representative for the telco was at the receiving end of an unprovoked verbal assault by one particularly hostile HDB resident, and it was all captured on a video recorded by the asshole himself. It’s unclear when or where this confusing confrontation transpired, but the clip seemed to be originally uploaded to Facebook last Tuesday before it resurfaced today on the Singapore Heroes & Zeroes page. The original video itself appeared to have been taken down by the impertinent edge lord.

The confrontation began with the StarHub dude asking why he was being recorded, before clarifying why he was going door-to-door. But the belligerent resident didn’t appreciate the whole spiel and made it clear, prompting the rep to respectfully bid farewell. Even then, the asshole wanted to have the last word, so he firmly told the sales rep to “fuck off” for no rhyme or reason (at least from what we could see). Props to the other dude for not blowing up though.

StarHub has since confirmed that the victim is indeed an employee of theirs. “We commend the staff of our authorized channel sales partner for remaining calm in spite of the verbal abuse he faced”, said StarHub’s Head of Consumer and Channel Sales Yvonne Lee to Coconuts Singapore.

“While customer satisfaction is our priority, we also respect and value the well-being of our staff and that of our partner agents. We do not condone aggressive or abusive behavior and where needed, we will seek police assistance to protect our staff from unjustified aggression and abuse.”

Assuming that the resident isn’t a die-hard Singtel or M1 loyalist, what could explain his behavior? Perhaps the misplaced rage stems from the general suspicion of door-to-door salespeople — there have been stories of folks being scammed outright, and even being frightened of having their babies stolen (no, really).
