Visit this library full of unread books and gain lifetime membership by donating one

Ever had a book you bought but never read, and instead left it in the corner? Well, it’s time to brush off the dust and donate the title to the Library of Unread Books. This reference library project by artist Heman Chong seeks to display all the unread books that people have dropped off at the space.

Each one will be individually stamped with a quick description of the project and the name of the donor. You can also choose to scribble down your thoughts on why you didn’t read the book, or why you chose to donate it to the library. In donating one, you gain lifetime membership and access to the library, which will pop up in different institutions across the globe over 10 years, before settling down as part of a collection in a museum.

Other featured activities at the library include day-long writing residencies, artwork displays and fiction writing workshops.

The Library of Unread Books is open every Friday night, noon-11.59pm from now till Feb 17, 2017, at NTU Centre for Contemporary Art Singapore, Blk 43 Malan Rd, Gillman Barracks.
