Video: Trio pulls off plan to get their money back from Carousell scammer

We know life on Carousell can be a little shoddy. Murky details, suspicious pictures, all the no-shows and non-replies — that’s what you get when just about anyone can set up and account and sell just about anything (until it gets deleted by the admin or something). We’ve all had our share of frustrations about the marketplace app, and for some users like Jeremy Ng, Stephanie Tan and Julian Seah, they decided to take matters into their own hands. In a good way, of course.

As related in a video post on her Facebook, Stephanie explained how a buyer turned out to be a no-show after her friend Jeremy had made his payment for an item meant to be a secret Santa present. Despite several SOS call outs to the “useless” Carousell admin, nothing was done. The trio then played secret sleuths and cleverly concocted a plan to get their money back. The whole event was captured on the video:

Hey everyone! Today, we taught this carousell scammer a lesson he will never forget. Basically, Jeremy Ng ordered something on carousell as a secret Santa present. After transferring him the money, the jerk just vanished into thin air. Refusing to reply all messages etc. Carousell admin was also pretty damn useless, Jerms reported the guy at least twice but nothing was done. So.. We decided to take matters into our own hands. We used Julian Seah’s account to message him, pretending to act interested in another item. Which he SO READILY REPLIED. SO EXPECTED RIGHT???? Meet up at this venue, so and so. _|_!!!!!!!! What a lying asshole!!!!He had no idea what was coming for him. I bet he was like “oh shit…..tio caught” LOSER LMAOAnyway, would like to emphasize that we did not threaten him, we did not splash paint on his house, we did not physically assault him. Everything was done as civilized as possible as seen in the video. LOL. Will not reveal his name/ address anything for whatever little dignity he has left. There have been one too many scam cases in carousell so let this be a lesson to anyone who dares to cheat anyone in the future.Btw, his account on carousell was hshshshs but he has now changed it to cheap.store

Of course, they’re not the only ones annoyed at Carousell — a quick search and you’ll find a treasure trove of Carouhell stories. You best level up for 2016 admins, ’cause this marketplace is looking a little dirty.
