Divian Nair may be more known for his past work as radio personality on 987FM, or his acting stint on Mata Mata, and of course that viral short film he directed with Dee Kosh in 2014.
Yesterday however, he appeared in another viral video — but this one’s a lot more meaningful and heartfelt than anything he’s ever done before. To kick off the launch of apolitical civic initiative We Are Majulah, Nair makes a passionate plea to all Singaporeans in a message of unity and progress. The campaign calls for Singapore to unite under the banner of ‘Majulah’, bonding together in a spirit of onward-ness in the face of potential crisis.
“We can choose it regardless of race or religion, privilege or status, but by the common understanding that Singapore can be made up by a belief — that precisely because we are such a small nation, we are more important to each other than we realise,” writes the We Are Majulah team.
