Last night, a netizen of Stomp witnessed a troop of police officers and concerned motorists banging on a stationary BMW car at the traffic junction of Bishan Road and Bishan Street 14. Why? They were trying to wake up the driver who’d gone into a super-deep slumber behind the wheel.
According to the netizen, the totally absurd scene went on for about 20 minutes, as drivers honked their horns, passers-by shook the car and cops strobed their flashlights in the driver’s face to no avail.
When the sleepy dude finally woke up, he was subjected to a breathalyser test before getting taken away in handcuffs. What a way to wake up.
Police have confirmed that the 30-year-old man was arrested for drink-driving, while investigations are ongoing. He probably got a good night’s sleep in remand.
