Another day, another egregious asshat spoiling the day of fellow road users. A light tap on the horn to alert a driver’s attention to the traffic light turned into an aggressive car chase that saw the road rager follow a motorist all the way into the carpark of Jem shopping mall.
The dashcam capturing the whole altercation was uploaded on the Beh Chia Lor Facebook page, where the driver’s slight horn caused the red car’s driver to, well, see red. The driver who posted the video explains that he avoided a full-on confrontation with the aggro dude in consideration of his 60-year-old mother (ailing from a cognitive heart issue) who was on board as well.
“I have made a police report and will forward the video to them,” he says.
Oh, and can we just say that the colors in the video are just so delightfully vibrant — we really must find which dashboard camera he used.
Road rage by driver of SGR5460U.”On 22nd Feb around 2pm (all time-stamp in video is accurate), I was on my way to Jurong East Mall with my 60 yr old mother on board. From the video, you can see I was parked behind the red vehicle at the traffic light. This is the first time I saw this vehicle. I’m sure there will be comments there must have something happened beforehand hence the aggression but I have videos way before the incident proving my point this is my first encounter with him. You will see a small time lapse in the video as this is a merger of 2 video files from my SD card in the car cam. Somehow there is a few second lapse. From the video you can see the driver getting busy with other stuff on his car. When the light turns green, he is still getting busy and hence I gave a light horn (not press and hold. is just a light press) to bring his attention to the road. He looked up and refused to move and hazard light on to show his displeasure. The left lane is very packed hence I overtake via right lane. Once I moved off, he decide to move as well. You can see me overtaking and movement is abrupt as he suddenly moved off and was very close to me. He initially wanted to turn right but decide to go straight and chase me. The rest is self-explanatory.Upon entering the carpark he drove in a dangerous manner and got down the car. As my mother is in the car who is obviously stressed (she have a cognitive heart issue) so I did not get down but avoided him. He tried to open my car door which fortunately is locked.Towards the end of the video you can see I was speeding towards the exit as the same driver is driving in opposite direction on the right side to try overtake and block me again. I refused to let him intercept as it could bring about unnecessary trouble. It was not captured on camera on how he try to outrun and block me, not to mention being very near my car. I drove out of the carpark and he followed suit but drove away with gestures (not caught on camera). Last part of video show him turning right and his hazard light which is on when i encountered him, is still on at that time. I have made a police report and will forward the video to them.”
