Responding to the startling number of kidnap cases faced by our neighbours across the Causeway last year, Kuala Lumpur-based ad agency TWBA has come up with a campaign video for Kidproof Southeast Asia that is sure to send a chill down your spine, especially if you have children.
Titled ‘Lollipop Bait’, the video shows how the agency plants a cap-wearing man in a local shopping centre, who approaches unattended kids and hands them a lollipop. The creepiness ends there though — thank god — the man then walks away as the kids run to their parents with their candy.
After questioning their children in shock, the parents presumably study the candy, on which is attached a note that reads, “It takes a split second to lure your child away. Keep a watchful eye before it’s too late.”
A mean trick, but it does the job.
