Honda Civic driver Quek Zhen Hao is calling on “bullies” to stop harrassing his girlfriend and family members, and let him pay for his own mistakes.
Earlier this week, citizen journalism sites like Singapore Reckless Drivers and The Online Citizen had called out his dangerous road behaviour, relating specifically to two cases of road rage documented on camera on the same day (watch at the bottom of this story).
The Singapore Police Force have since caught up with Quek and investigations are said to still be ongoing, but it seems haters are still laying on him thick. In response, Quek has uploaded a video explaining and apologising for his actions. The video also expressed his dismay of the hateful treatment he claims his family and girlfriend have received from people he calls “cyber ah bengs”.
“Death threats on forums, terrible criticism about my family, parents and girlfriend” were some of the abuse he cited in his monologue.
“Does what you did on the forum towards me and family show you have good upbringing?” he continued. “Say what you want, but that is cyber-bullying. You caused fear in my family and girlfriend. My mistakes, my punishment. Why punish my parents?”
Quek finished by thanking the people who’d been involved with him in the two key incidents. He said the experience has proved to him that his girlfriend and family will stand by him, even if they do not approve of his actions.
