Video: Food League challengers attempt and fail to devour 3kg chicken rice platters

Try as they might, but these five challengers who dared to face the Xiang Ji Mega Chicken Rice eating contest gave up on their carb-filled endeavour.

Guest challenger and notable competitive eater Zermatt Neo however gladly ate every morsel on his plate in just 25 minutes and 30 seconds — beating his previous attempt which clocked in at a little over 29 minutes.

It seemed like nobody won the challenge in the end, especially when you look at all of the contestant’s faces, trounced completely by 10 servings of rice and a whole chicken. If they had managed to finish their platter in 40 minutes, their $28 meal would have been free and they’d walk away with a $50 shopping voucher too.

Since nobody finished their meal, the closest winner was 30-year-old Marcus Chan, who had the least amount of food left after 40 minutes. He walked away with a $100 shopping voucher and an aversion to chicken rice which would probably last for weeks.

In any case, if you’re insane enough to try it yourself, the $28 mega chicken rice awaits you at Xiang Ji Roasted Delights in Bukit Batok West Avenue 5.
