A video of a van hurtling backward down a slope and crashing into a home is making the rounds online, as videos of driverless vans rolling backward into homes typically do.
The incident captured in the 30-second dashcam clip — uploaded by social media page ROADS.sg to YouTube — happened at about noon yesterday along Sennett Lane, near the Siglap area.
In the video, the white van, it’s driver’s side door open and driver’s seat empty, can be seen swiftly moving backward downhill before swinging to the left and crashing into the gates of one of the terrace houses there.

A man chasing after the runaway vehicle — we’re guessing the driver — follows the vehicle into frame just a second later, but it’s too little too late. The man then stops in the middle of the road and squats for a moment, seemingly gathering enough courage to face the person living in the house.
Towards the end of the clip, the man can be seen speaking to someone from outside the now-demolished gate.
The video has been viewed more than 30,000 times since it went up on YouTube yesterday. On Facebook, the clip has been shared ROADS.sg’s page more than 200 times, and nearly 400 times on the Beh Chia Lor – Singapore Road page.
Predictably, plenty of Singaporeans immediately emerged to call the man out for forgetting to pull the hand brake and lock his wheels when parking the van.

Well, at least nobody got hurt.
