“They’ll never check my underwear,” this Malaysian drug smuggler presumably thought. “Nobody’s ever done this before!”
Immigration & Checkpoints Authority (ICA) officers couldn’t help but notice the significant bulge in his pants when the he tried to pass through into Singapore via Tuas Checkpoint on his motorbike yesterday morning. Suspecting that there could be drugs hidden in the motorcyclist’s underwear, officers from the Central Narcotics Bureau (CNB) were alerted to conduct a search on him.
Nearly a kilogram of heroin was promptly found concealed in the 23-year-old man’s underwear — the 900g haul of drugs is estimated to be worth over $63,000.
Trafficking over 15g of pure heroin however means that the drug mule might face the death penalty due to the Misuse of Drugs Act. Just maybe, smuggling stuff in your briefs isn’t exactly the most brilliant of plans.
