Unbelievable: This time-lapse video of the Milky Way and Venus rising was shot in Singapore

Award-winning photographer and astronomy enthusiast Justin Ng has successfully produced a way for the residents of light-polluted Singapore to experience the galaxy and its stars.

He’s gone where many photographers haven’t — shot and edited pictures of the Singapore night sky to produce a clear time-lapse video of the Milky Way and Venus rising — and the result is breath-taking.

According to the New York Daily News, 36-year-old Ng had shot the images from 4:30 — 6am on the last day of February, 2014, right outside the urban section of the city, using special lenses.

More than 500 images — painstakingly stretched and further edited using Photoshop to reduce the amount of light — make up the time-lapse video.

Ng also said he had developed his own astronomy web tool to locate the Milky Way and its components.
